The two
types are the self-propelled range of sweeper manufactured in Germany
by Kersten, whilst the ride-on sweeper
is made in Denmark and sold in the UK under the name of RS
Rapide.
KERSTEN
SWEEPERS
Manufactured
in Germany, the Kersten range of agricultural sweeping
and bedding machines offer a simple solution to the
problem of keeping cubicles clean and bedded with
fresh material in a one-pass operation. The standard
machine, the K1330L is powered by
an electric start diesel engine. There are two sizes
of material hopper, 110 litres and 460 litres and
both are fitted with an agitator to keep the bedding
material moving. The machine can dispense sawdust
or Envirobed and lime can be mixed in with
the bedding. A 70cm brush is fitted to the left side
of the machine and this can be set to the desired
height and sweeping width. The machine is self-propelled
and simply has to be steered alongside the cubicles.
The
top of the range model is the Stallboy
, which is based on the 460 litre K1330L,
but with the additional features of an hydraulically
operated scraper and a tipping hopper for loading
bulk material.

The K1330L
can be fitted with a 460 litre or 110 litre cubical
bedding distributor, which is capable of blowing sawdust
of finely chopped straw to a distance of 2.5metres.
There is the option of a 700mm round side brush for
sweeping cubicles and passageways. The smaller
unit can also be fitted with a manual scraper.
  
Also
available in the Kersten agricultural range are:
- K1320L
– an hydraulic steer power unit operating
a silage feed passage auger
- K1100L
– a petrol driven power unit for use with
a brush or scraper only, a brush and scraper combination,
a 900mm round yard brush, a reciprocating mower or
a sweeping brush and collecting box.
The
K1320L can also drive a feed
passage auger 1000mm working width and 520mm in diameter,
for pushing in silage.
The K1320L
and K1330L agricultural power
units may be fitted with a Honda 9.0hp or 13.0hp petrol
engine or a Hatz 6.8hp diesel engine with variable speed
hydraulic transmission forwards and reverse and drive
axle with dfferential. They can be fitted with
a 800mm, 1000mm or 1250mm scraper.
Both units
can with the quick change implement system, accommodate
the 900mm round brush, reciprocating mower or a sweeping
brush and collecting box.

The Kersten Stallboy
is fitted as standard with an electric start 6.8hp Hatz diesel
engine (Honda 13hp petrol engine and manual start as options)
with variable speed hydraulic transmission forwards and reverse
and drive axle with differential. It has a 460 litre hopper
for sawdust or finely chopped straw that can be blown 2.5metres.
The hopper can be hydraulically tipped for self-load of materials.
Other options include height adjustable scraper and a 700mm
diameter side brush.

100 and we no longer use wipes in the parlour. We use
much less sawdust now and most of all we've saved so much

K1100L is fitted with a Honda 5.5hp
petrol engine, variable speed hydraulic transmission forwards
and reverse and a scraper of 800mm, 1000mm or 1250mm.
Optional extras
include a 700mm hydraulic gully brush, wide tyres, wheel hub
weight and differential axle.
With the quick change
implement system, the K1100L can accommodate a 900mm round
brush, reciprocating mower or a sweeping brush and collecting

Kersten
also manufacture hydraulically driven rotary brushes,
which can be fitted to the front of rear of a tractor.
Brushes come in a variety of widths from 1500mm to 2000mm,
with a brush diameter of 400mm to 600mm. Options include
a collecting box and rubber tyre silage pushers. |

RS
RAPIDE
The
RS Rapide , built in Denmark offers
the practicality of mechanised sweeping and bedding, along
with the comfort and ease of a ride-on machine. The Rapide
is a unique articulated steering sweeper allowing sweeping
to take place around 90 degree corners and giving a turning
radius of only 1.6 metres. The unit is powered by a 3-cylinder
23hp diesel and drive is via a gearless
hydrostatic system
for both forward and reverse. The standard 625 litre hopper
has automatic agitation to ensure consistent flow of bedding
through the wide adjustable doors in to the blower unit, the
Rapide can handle saw dust, paper waste and chopped straw.
The centrally mounted brush can move through 180 degrees allowing
sweeping to both the left or right hand side and has vertical
adjustment from 0 to 30 cm.
There
are options to have a petrol engine, an hydraulically operated
scraper and also an extension to the hopper to make a capacity
of 1045 litres. |
